The length of the vessel is not so much a factor when choosing the size of your Boatcatch but more so the weight of the boat. It is suggested that the small coupling is used on boat and trailer combinations from 150kgs to 2 tonne. Any greater than this should use the large.
The deciding factor may come down to your trailers bow post width. The small coupling comes with a mounting arm that bolts around bow posts that are up to 65mm wide for the small and between 60mm and 80 for the large.
Note: Occasionally people choose to disregard the mounting components and adapt the coupling to the trailer by other means.
It is suggested the small coupling is used on boat and trailer combinations from 150kgs to 2 tonne maximum. These couplings may be fitted to vessels ranging from the smallest of aluminium boats and up to those around 6 metres. Also, light duty fibreglass boats of up to around 6 metres may be used.
If your boat is heavily constructed from fibreglass and over about 6 metres then you may want to look at using the large Boatcatch.
The large coupling is best used on boat and trailer combinations ranging from 1.5 tonne to a 6 tonne maximum (couplings may be used on applications over this weight at the owners own discretion and risk).
To relate this to approximate boat lengths; couplings may be fitted to vessels ranging from around 6 metres and up to those near 10 metres. If your boat is under this size then you may want to look at using the small Boatcatch.
